General rubbish needs to be in the correct yellow Wellington City Council rubbish bags, available at supermarkets.

Recycling material needs to be separated as follows:

1. Cardboard, tin, paper & plastic go in clear bags, available from the Council or libraries.

2. Glass goes in a WCC green bin.

 

WCC alternates weekly between collecting glass (green bins) and collecting plastics, tins, cans, cardboard & paper (clear recycling bags).

Rubbish and recycling collection days vary depending on your location:

 

Te Aro
Rubbish is collected every day before 8am — put it out early or the night before by the roadside.

Recycling is collected every Tuesday before 8am — put it out early or on Monday night by the roadside.

Thorndon & Wilton
Rubbish & recycling are collected every Tuesday before 8am — put it out early or on Monday night by the roadside.

Kilbirnie
Rubbish & recycling are collected every Friday before 8am — put it out early or on Thursday night by the roadside.

Mt Victoria & Oriental Bay
Rubbish & recycling are collected every Thursday before 8am — put it out early or on Wednesday night by the roadside.
